Lea Thompson is an American actress, director, and producer, who also known by her birth name Lea Katherine Thompson. She was born in Rochester, Minnesota, United States on 31 May 1961. She is the daughter of mother Barbara Thompson, a singer, and father Cliff Thompson. Thompson has two sisters Shannon Thompson and Coleen Goodrich, and two brothers Barry Thompson and Andrew Thompson. She attended the American Ballet Theatre, and then she joined the San Francisco Ballet. She enrolled in Pennsylvania Ballet and then she studied at Marshall-University High School.
Thompson started dating director Howard Deutch and the couple got married on 23 July 1989. She has two daughters Madelyn Deutch, a writer, and Zoey Deutch, an actress.
Lea began her acting career with Kelly Ann Bukowski’s role in the film Jaws 3-D in 1983, and she played Sally Matthews’s role in her debut television show Nightbreaker in 1989. She is well known for Kathryn Kennish’s role in the television show Switched at Birth in 2011, and she gained fame for her Lorraine McFly’s role in the films Back to the Future Part II (1989) and Back to the Future Part III (1990).
