She is the daughter of father Herbert Hu, a salesman, and mother Juanita Hu, an engineering drafter. Hu has a brother Glenn Hu, a resource manager in United States Army. She completed her schooling at Ma?ema?e Elementary School in Honolulu, and then she joined Kamehameha Schools in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Hu is in a relationship with record producer Mitch Allan since 2010. She also dated Ahmad Ali Moussaoui from 1996 to 1998. She has been in a relationship with film producer Gordon Gilbertson from 1999 to 2000
Kelly began her acting career with Melia’s role in the television series Growing Pains in 1987, and she played Eva Watanabe’s role in her first film Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan in 1989. She gained fame for her Cassandra’s role in the film The Scorpion King in 2002, and she is also known for Sona’s role in the film Cradle 2 the Grave in 2003. She portrayed Yuriko Oyama and Lady Deathstrike’s role in the film X2 in 2003, and she starred as Lai Lai Zhen in the film The Tournament in 2009. Hu appeared as May Chung in the movie White Frog in 2012, and she played a magnificent role as Pearl Zhu in the television series The Vampire Diaries from 2010 to 2011. She also played a notable role in the television series includes Arrow (2012-2019) and Warehouse 13 (2013-2014).
